KVK, Malyal organized World Pulses Day

Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal addressed the gathering and explained the farmers the importance of pulses in a healthy diet and healthy planet. She requested the farmers to grow pulses at least in some part of land holdings to meet their house hold requirement to balanced diet. Growing pulses ensure meet requirement of both social and economic security. In this programme, Sri B. Kranthi Kumar, SMS (Crop Production) explained about “best management practices in Pulses”, Dr. N. Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension) explained about “Awareness on different newly released varieties in Pulses”. Smt. A. Ramulamma, SMS (Plant Protection) explained about “pest & disease management in Pulses” and Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture) spoke about “Scope of Pulses in Horticulture crops as intercrop”. Later Farmer-Scientist interaction conducted. About 50 farmers attended the programme which was organized in collaboration with Reliance Foundation. Sri Ramesh, District Manager, Reliance Foundation also participated in the meeting.
