KVK, Malyal – Organized “World Pulses Day” on 10th February 2023

KVK, Malyal organized “World Pulses Day” on 10th February 2023 at KVK, Malyal. Dr. N.Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension) KVK, Malyal addressed the gathering and explained the importance of World Pulses Day and the theme of the day –“Pulses for a Sustainable Future” and importance of pulses in a healthy diet. He also appraised main motto of celebrating pulses day is to spread awareness about nutritional as well as environmental benefits of pulses as a part of sustainable food production. He requested the farmers to grow pulses in atleast some part of land holdings to meet their house hold requirement. Sri. K. Bhaskar, Scientist(GPBR) & Head, SKLTSHU - HRS, Malyal explained about “Scope of Pulses in Horticulture crops as Intercrop”. He also explained that pulses are nutrient-dense, providing good source of vitamins and minerals that are vital for good health and suggested to the participants to eat daily requirement of pulses. Sri. A. Prasanth Scientist (Pl Pathology), HRS, Malyal explained about initial care in pulse crops to avoid disease/ plant problems in the crop period. In this programme, Sri. M.Chittibabu Agromet Observer, 3 no. of school faculty, 35 no of school childerns from Sri Chaitanya School, Mahabubabad and 7 no. of farmers participated.
