The chief guest of the programme, Dr. Shaik N Meera (Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone –X, Hyderabad) inaugurated the Demonstration Units viz., Farm Mechanization Unit, Diet Counselling Centre and Information Centre at KVK premises. The special guest of the programme Smt.Suseela Chintala (CGM, NABARD, Hyderabad) inaugurated the Integrated Farming System and Integrated Fish cum Poultry Unit at KVK Instructional Farm. In this programme, Dr.B.Jamuna Rani (Director of Extension, PJTSU, Hyderabad), Dr.M.Malla Reddy (ADR, RARS, Palem), Dr.M.Goverdhan, (PS, AICRP on IFS, Hyderabad), Dr.B.Pushpavathi (Associate Dean, Agriculture College, Palem) graced the occasion and participated in the inaugural programme. The training programme was organised on Integrated farming systems on dry land situation. Dr. Shaik N Meera, Dirextor, ICAR-ATARI, Zone –X, Hyderabad, emphasized the importance of integrated farming system in dry land farming system areas and climate resilient technologies like IFS, soil and water conservation, crop rotation, rain water harvesting structures like farm pond and best management practices etc. Smt. Suseela Chintala, CGM, NABARD, Hyderabad briefed about finance credit facilities avail under NABARD related to agriculture and allied sectors and briefed the way double the income of farmer through FPOs and others. Dr.B. Jamunarani, Director of Extension addressed the gathering that IFS model is highly beneficial to the farmers in terms of higher returns and encouraged the farmers to expand this model further in the upcoming season. Dr.M.Malla Reddy, ADR, RARS, Palem emphasized on the major objectives of the of IFS and impact of fluctuations in weather conditions on agriculture, cultivation of more crops instead of mono cropping so that farmers get more income. Dr.B.Pushpavathi, Associate Dean, Agriculture College, Palem emphasized that IFS is one of the best technologies in dry land farming and suitable for light soils in Nagarkurnool district. Dr.M.Goverdhan, PS (IFS) explained on various integrated farming components exclusively dry land areas like Nagarkurnool and explained management practices on timely basis. In this programme KVK, Palem releases Video CD on KVK activities and demo units, Manual on Integrated Farming Systems, Technological Interventions: Success & Impact (2011-12 to 2023-24), Inspiring success stories of progressive farmers, Glimpse of Scientific & Extension publications by KVK, Palem (2011-12 to 2023-24), Awards and recognitions of KVK, Palem (2011-12 to 2023-24) and QR codes of demo units located at KVK Premises. Scientific staff of KVK, RARS, APT, AGC and DAATTC, District Officials and 210 Farmers were participated.
