KVK, Palem conducted a Diagnostic field visit to Paddy & Maize fields at Salkarpet, Nandi Vaddeman, Kotalgadda (V), Bijinepally (M), Nagarkurnool (D) on 15.10.2024. Currently, the paddy crop is at booting to panicle initiation stage in the Nagarkurnool district. Due to the continuous rains, the crop is severely infested by paddy leaf folder (70% 3-4 larvae per plant), panicle mite/grain discoloration (25-30%), BPH (specifically in BPT – 30-40%) and stem borer (15-20%). The main difficulty faced by the farmers is that due to continuous rains unable to take up the timely plant protection measures. The team has suggested to spray Chlorantraniliprole@ 60 ml/acre or Cartap hydrochloride @ 400g/acre for leaf folder & stem borer, Propiconazole @ 200 ml+ Spiromecifen @ 200 ml for panicle mite/grain discoloration, Pymetrozine@ 40 g or Buprofezine@320 ml per acre twice in 10 days interval. Rabi maize crop is at 15 days old and severely infested by FAW (Above ETL 2-3 larvae per whorl -75-80%). Suggested to spray with Emamectin benzoate @ 80g/acre or Chlorantraniliprole@ 60 ml/acre immediately. In this visit Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (PP), Gnaneswar YP I, D. Harish YP I, KVK, Palem and 6 farmers were participated.
