KVK, Palem scientists organized field day on newly developed minikit varieties of Paddy at Venkatapur village of Wanaparthy mandal on 04.11.2022. In this program The program was chaired by Dr. M. Goverdhan (ADR, RARS, Palem) briefed about the importance of minikit trials especially under assured irrigation conditions the area under Paddy cultivation is increasing year after year. Most of the farmers are still cultivating local varieties which are having long duration and highly susceptible to pest & diseases. So there is a great need to organize this kind of field days to showcase the PJTSAU university developed new minikit trials. Dr. Lingaiah ( Senior scientist & head of ARS, Kampasagar) briefed about the Kampasar developed variety 1.KPS-6251: Which is gaving short duration ( 115-120days), tolerance to BPH & BLB, high adoptability to saline & alkaline soils. Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy ( PC, KVK, Palem) spoke about the characteristics of all the Minikit varieties. 2. RNR -28361: Which is long slender, duration of 135 days, suitable for both Kharif not recorded incidence of any pests & disease. 3. JGL- 28639 : Which is long slender, duration of 120 days, alternative to MTU-1010, having profused productive tillers & good out turn, not observed any pest & diseases. 4. RNR:31479: Which is super fine grain type, duration of 125 days, observed sporadic incidence of Yellow stem borer, moderately resistance to sheath rot & grain discoloration. Dr. Sujatha ( PS- Oilseeds) discussed about the suitability of oil seed crops for yasangi season. After that showcased performance of all the new paddy varieties to the farmers. Most of the farmers expressed that performance & expression of all the varieties are really good. In this program Sri. Srikanth Reddy (Innovative farmer), Dr. Shiva prasad (Scientist- Kampasagar), Sri. Sudhakar Reddy (DAO- Wanaparthy), Sri. Satyam Raju (ADA- WNP), Sri. Chandrashekhar (ADA- Pangal), Sri. Kurumaiah (MAO-WNP), Scientists of KVK, Palem, other village officials a total of 57 farmers have participated.
