KVK, Palem conducted a Diagnostic cum OFT field visit in cotton at Vasanthapur & Palem (V), Bijinepally (M), Nagarkurnool (D)on 18.07.2024. Currently crop is at vegetative to squares formation stage (30-50 days old) in visited fields. Sowings were taken up during I FN of June with Chandra gold, Aadhya and Sadanand hybrids. Right now, crop is at good condition and observed aphids (above ETL), leaf hoppers (below ETL) and suggested to spray with Azadiractin 1500 PPM and Thiamethoxan @ 0.4 g/lit or Imidacloprid @ 0.25 ml/lit. As a part of technical programme, An OFT on ‘Assessment on management of Tobacco streak viral disease in cotton’ visited the fields and distributed inputs (Azadiractin 1500 PPM, Blue and white sticky traps, Thaiamethoxam and Imidacloprid). Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (PP) has educated the farmers how TSV, a viral borne disease spreads and IPM practices to be followed for the effective management of the disease and importance of traps in monitoring of the pest. Instructed to keep the fields weed free specia lly parthenium as the TSV causing virus harbors on the parthenium pollen which will be ultimately transmitted by thrips. Clearly explained the interventions of the technology to the beneficiaries. In this visit Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (PP), N. Gnaneswar (YP I), Y. Pushpalatha (YP I) KVK, Palem and 17 farmers were participated.
