VK, Palem scientists inaugurated three days Skill Development training program on Vermicompost production technologies under Unnati Project to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) trainees at the seminar of KVK, Palem on 21.04.2022. In this program, Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Palem emphasized the importance of skill development programs and presented the role of vermicompost for enhancement of soil fertility status, methods of composting by using all the village waste. Practically explained and demonstrated the different layers of bedding material application, days to watering, and release of earthworms. Mr. M. Rajashekhar, SMS (Plant protection, I/C of vermicompost unit) has explained the separation of solid waste from liquid waste and allowing it into outside decomposition up to 15 days after the use of the partially decomposed waste as bedding material to convert the waste material into wealth. The whole decomposition process may vary with the bedding materials, in general, the dung and kitchen waste materials will decompose faster. In this program Dr. B. Rajashekhar (SMS-AE), Mr. Srinivasulu (APD, DRDA & Unnati project Nodal officer), Mr. Sudhakar (DPM & Jobs district manager), Mr. Venkanna (ADE, NGKL), Smt. Laxmi (APO), Ramulu (APO), and 36 MGNREGS trainees of Bijinepally Mandal have participated.
