KVK, Palem organized one day district level Kissan mela cum awareness program on Jal Shakthi Abhiyan (JSA) at premises of KVK, Palem on 24.08.2022. The program was chaired by Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy (PC, KVK, Palem) briefed about the different activities taken up by the KVK, Palem under JSA. The main theme of the program is “Catch The Rain” with the tagline “Catch the rain, where it falls when it falls” which is to nudge the states and stakeholders to create appropriate Rain Water Harvesting Structures (RWHS) suitable to the climatic conditions before monsoon. Presented water conservation techniques like usage of sprinklers, drips, farm ponds, conservational tillage methods and per drop more crops. Dr. Pushpavathi (Associate dean, Palem) stressed on construction of farm ponds, soaking pits and their role in enhancement of ground water. Farm ponds play a major role to provide the life saving irrigations to the field & horticultural crops. Sri. Narsingh Rao (DRDO, NGKL) spoke about the various initiatives taken by the Telangana government on water conservation. In this program Sri. Narsingh Rao (DRDO), Sudhakar (DPM, NGKL), scientists of KVK, Palem other district officials of various departments, RAWEP students a total 123 members have participated.
