KVK, Palem attended Cotton mechanical harvesting at Sirasanagandl village on 23-12-2021

KVK, Palem scientists participated mechanical harvesting of Cotton by using Cotton picking machine at Shirsanagandla village of Charagonda mandal. In this program Dr. Ram prasad ( Senior scientist- Entomology ) presented best management methods in HDPS - Cotton & IPM practices in Bt Cotton . Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy ( PC, KVK, Palem) stressed in present scenario labour shortage is a major problem to overcome this problem mechanical harvesting of Cotton by Cotton picking machine is boon to the farmers. The machine can harvest one acre land in 45 mins, it is two row picker, each acre cost is 5000/- including defoliator & protectant sprays. Other aspects on pros and cons in mechanical harvesting. Dr. Venkateshwarlu (PC, KVK, Jammikunta) highlighted the need for mechanical harvesting. Sri. Venkateshwarlu (DAO, Nagarkurnool ) briefed about the shortage of labour and cost reduction technologies. In this program Ashwini ( Scientist- Pathology ), Mr. M. Rajashekhar ( SMS-PP), Mr. B. Rajashekhar ( SMS- AE), Chinna hussain( MAO- Charagonda), other line department officials and a total of 355 farmers participated.
