The Survey and awareness programme on black thrips damage & management in chilli was organized jointly by scientific teams of IIHR, NBAIR, CIMPC, SKLTSHU, KVK, Palem, PJTSAU and Dept. of Horticulture, Nagarkurnool dist. at Guntakoduru(V), Nagarkurnool(Dist.) on 03.01.2023. The Teams created awareness about management of Thrips pervispinus in chilli with IPM practices including installation of white and blue sticky traps, use of botanicals (Neem oil and karanja oil) @ 3ml/ L at 5-7 days interval, spraying of biocontrol agents like Beauveria bassiana, Lecanicillium lecanii @ 5ml/ L and soil application of Metarhizium anisopliae @ 2kg/ acre mixed in 100kg FYM, regular inter cultivation need to be done. if infestation is high use new pesticide molecules for thrips control i.e. broflanilide 300 G/l Sc@ 34ml/ acre or Fluxametamide 10% w/w EC@ 160g/ acre or Tolfenpyrad 15% EC@ 400ml/ acre or Spinetoram 120 SC@ 180ml/ acre and mixing with azadiractin 10000ppm 3ml/ L at 7-10 days interval for effective control of the pest. Dr. Adhi Shankar, SMS (Hort.), Dr. O. Shaila, SMS(PP), Chandra shekhar Rao, DSHO, Maheswari, Lakshman, and Imrana (Hos) and 36 chilli farmers have been participated in this visit.
