KVK, Palem organised a Training cum joint diagnostic field visit at Yadreddipalli, Antharam & Indrakal (V), Tadoor (M), Nagarkurnool (D) on 23.11.2023. A training programme on Integrated Pests Management in chilli was organized at Grampanchayat of Yadireddypalli village. Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (PP) emphasized the integrated pest management practices in various crops. Dr. A. Shankar, SMS (Hort) stressed upon the best management practices in chilli and vegetable and fruit crops. Dr. K. Sridhar, Scientist (Agronomy), RARS, Palem discussed about the rabi crops, varieties to be chosen and weed management practices. Further, a joint diagnostic field visits in chilli, groundnut & maize crops was conducted in collaboration with department of agriculture officials where chilli crop is at fruit formation to first picking stage, the major observation noticed is most of the farmers are providing excessive irrigation through drip of flooding. Due to which severe wilt disease was noticed, black thrips damage is below ETL (2-4thrips/flower), Pod borer infestation, fruit rot, due to the nutrients deficiency (majorly Zn), yellowing, leaves, flower and fruit drop is and viral diseases were noticed. In chilli, suggested to cut down the excess irrigation, application of Conica (COC + Kasugamycin) @ 500g/acre, for bleck thrips, installation of blue & white sticky traps @ 25+25 per acre, application of Azadiractin 1500 ppm @ 1 lit/acre + Exponus (Bruflanilidae) @ 34 ml/acr or Gracia (Fluxamatamidae) @ 160 ml/acre or Plasiva (Cyantraniliprole + Difenthiuron) @ 250 ml/acre. In groundnut, tobacco caterpillar incidence is severe (above ETL) suggested to apply Proclaim (Emamectin benzoate@ 80g/acre or Coragen (Chlorantraniliprole) @ 60 ml/acre, for color and stem rot drenching with SAAF (carbendazim + mancozeb) @ 500g/acre. In maize, FAW incidence is severe (above ETL – more than 80%) suggested to apply Proclaim (Emamectin benzoate @ 80g/acre or Coragen (Chlorantraniliprole) @ 60 ml/acre or Delegate (Spinetoram)@200ml/acre in the whorl region.
