KVK, Palem organized Training cum Method Demonstration on mass trapping method for Pink Bollworm Management in Cotton on 19.09.2022

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Palem has organized Training cum Method Demonstration on mass trapping method for Pink Bollworm Management in Cotton under Tribal sub plan (TSP) at Laxmapur thanda village of Amrabad Mandal on 19.09.2022. In this program Mr. M. Rajashekhar, SMS-PP briefed about the importance of mass trapping for effective management of Pink Bollworm in Cotton. Pink bollworm is one of the major and dreaded pest which is causing severe damage in Cotton production. Most of the farmers are using the chemicals but they were helpless and farmers are not getting assured yields, to overcome this problem KVK, Palem sensitized farmers on usage of pheromone traps. After that demonstrated the installation of pheromone traps in the farmer’s field and emphasized on pheromone traps help in mass trapping of Pink bollworm in Cotton and will help in the reduction of the usage of harmful pesticides. Right now the crop is at the flowering to boll formation stage trained all the farmers installation of pheromone traps in cluster mode 20 traps/acre by covering of 25 acres. After that 20 pheromone traps with lures to each farmer, a total of 500 pheromone traps by covering of 25 acres distributed to the beneficiaries. In this program Sri. Praveen Kumar, Smt. Muntaz begum (AEO), Pandu (Sarpanch), MPTC and total of 31 farmers have participated.
