KVK, Palem organized training cum method demonstartion on Pink bollworm management on 27.08.2022

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Palem has organized training cum method demonstration under Network project on Insecticide Resistance Management (IRM): Dissemination of Pink bollworm Management strategies at Vasanthapur village of Bijinepally Mandal on 27.08.2022. In this program Mr. M. Rajashekhar, SMS-PP briefed about the IRM project and promotion of IPM practices in the farmer’s field. After that demonstrated the installation of pheromone traps in the farmer’s field and emphasized on pheromone traps help in monitoring the incidence of Pink bollworm in Cotton and will help in the reduction of the usage of harmful pesticides. Right now the crop is at the flowering to boll formation stage, at this stage insisted farmers take up the spraying with Azadiractin 1500ppm @ 5ml/L of water. If traps catch more than 8 adult moths three consecutive days recommended spraying with Thiodicarb @ 1.5g/lt of water. After that distributed 3 pheromone traps and Azadiractin 1500ppm @ 1 liter to each farmer. A total of 75 traps and 25 liters of Azadiractin 1500ppm were distributed to 25 farmers by covering 25 acres of Cotton. In this program Mr. B. Rajashekar (SMS-Agril. Extension), Sri. Buchanna (Sarpanch), Smt. Gouthami (Young professional), Sri. Praveen Kumar, RAWEP students, and total of 31 farmers have participated.
