KVK, Palem Scientist participated in Training cum Awareness Programme on Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights (PPVFR) on 28.02.2025 at KVK Medak 1 (Zaheerabad).

ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad, in collaboration with PPVFRA, New Delhi has organized Training cum Awareness Programme on PPVFR for KVKs of Telangana. KVK, Palem displayed nine (9) traditional varieties selected for PPVFR registration and presented a poster comprising the details of the farmer-developed varieties. Dr.T.Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Palem received appreciation certificate for enrolling the applications for registering farmer’s varieties. KVK, Palem farmers K.Lavanya and B.Raju also received awards for conserving traditional seeds. Dr.Trilochan Mohapatra, Chairperson, PPVFRA, New Delhi was the Chief Guest of the Programme. He inaugurated the exhibition and accentuated the importance of farmers’ varieties of crops and the benefits of the PPVFR Act, 2001 for the farmers and encouraged farmers to set the target for registration and conserving traditional varieties. In this programme Dr.Trilochan Mohapatra, Chairperson, PPVFRA, New Delhi, Dr.DK.Agrwal, Registrar, PPVFRA, Dr.Shaik N Meera, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad, Dr.A R Reddy, Principal Scientist, ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad, KVK staff and 140 farmers were participated.
