Direct seeded rice is an important resource conservation technology in paddy. In future DSR appears to be an appealing option for the future rice farming having the potential for saving the resources like water and labour apart from achieving the sustainable yields under different agro ecological environments. For these KVK, Wyra has done the outstanding contribution which brought the great change in the rice cultivating farmers for transforming from conventional transplanting and adopting the direct seeding rice technology in Khammam district. On 21.01.2025 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Wyra conducted field level demonstration of wet mechanized direct seeding in paddy with hill drop planter at KVK Farm which is under SBI-CSR DSR project. Pranadhara Organised Agro Forestry Pvt. Ltd. People were involved in field preparation and sowing operation with hill drop drop planter. For this paddy seed were soaked in water for 24 hrs and drained the water while using for sowing. One day before, field preparation was completed and next day sowing with planter with a row to row spacing of 25 cms, hill to hill (Rice seed heap) spacing 20 cm. seed rate per acre was 10 Kg. After sowing, spraying of pre-emergence herbicide with drone after Wet mechanized DSR. In this event KVK Wyra Programme Coordinator Dr. K. Ravi Kumar, Dr.V. Chaitanya, SMS (Horticulture), Smt. PSM Phanisri, SMS (Agriculture Extension) and framers, other KVK staff were participated and interacted with scientists regarding the mechanized DSR in paddy.
