District Agriculture Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centre (DAATTC), Warangal organized a “Field day on motorized weeding in rice and awareness cum training programme on drum seeding method of paddy cultivation and use of power weeder in paddy” at Indranagar, Elkaturthy, Warangal (Urban) District on 24-11-2020. Dr. P. Jagan Mohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Warangal, attended as guest speaker and apprised the famers about importance and advantages of drum seeding in the present situation of labour shortage, Dr. S. Malathi, Principal Scientist, Rice Entomology explained about pest management and Yasangi nursery management of rice, Dr. B. Anil kumar, Coordinator, DAATTC, Warangal elucidated pros and cons of different sowing methods of paddy with an emphasis on drum seeding method of paddy cultivation. Sri J. Vijay, Scientist, DAATTC, has explained the method of sowing by drum seeder method and advantages of power weeding over other weed control practices in paddy. Smt. Usha Dayal, District Agricultural Officer (DAO), Warangal urban has explained about subsidy scheme of drum seeders and power weeders, etc. Later farmers shared their experience of sowing of paddy and reiterated the benefits obtained by drum seeder technique and power weeder operation in paddy. The programme was followed by field visit. During interaction all the queries were clarified and farmers expressed satisfaction over the crop performance and their eillingness to take up the technology in big way. In this programme, Sri. Damodhar Reddy, ADA, Warangal Urban, MAO, AEO’s and about 82 farmers from Gopalpur, Damera, Elkaturthy, Indiranagar, Kothapally, Jangaon, Mulkanoor and Warangal were participated in the meeting.
