Agricultural Education Day celebrations at Agriculture College , Sircilla on 03.12.2022

Agricultural College Sircilla celebrated, Agriculture Education Day on 3rd December 2022 at Agricultural College, Sircilla to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of Independent India. Dr. R. Sathish, Assistant Professor & OISA, briefed the importance of the programme to the Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS), Venkatapur students and said that India is basically Agricultural dependent nation and 60% of the population was directly depending on Agriculture for their livelihood and Income. Development of Agriculture is to be more concentrated and the present generation of students must be aware of Agricultural Education and they need to show interest in this profession. Dr. T. Uma Maheswari, Associate Dean mentioned that farmers are cultivating the crops, but with including the scientific methods is more beneficial. She explained that the event was organized to educate School students and encourage them to choose agriculture as a profession by explaining the job prospects such as Scientists and Agri-enterpreneurs in agriculture and allied sectors. As part of celebration the college has organized an exhibition showcasing different exhibits related to Crop production, Soil Science, Agril. Engineering, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Horticulture, Crop physiology and Agril. Extension to the students. Students have shown keen interest on activities involved in Agricultural education. In the programme a total of 100 school students from ZPHS, Venkatapur and teaching and supporting staff, College students from Agricultural College, Sircilla have participated.
