Celebration of National Farmer’s Day and management of fall army worm in maize on 23-12-2021 at Adopted village, Damera

Agricultural College, Warangal has celebrated “National Farmers day” at Adopted village, Damera on 23.12.2021 on the occasion of birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the fifth prime minister of India. Village adoption committee members briefed the importance of farmer’s day and appreciated farmers’ for their tremendous dedication and effort. During this programme, maize (30-40 days) fields were inspected and incidence of fall army worm was observed. Dr. Ch. Anusha, Asst. Prof (Entomology) conducted method demonstration on installation of pheromone traps@4/acre was done for monitoring. If trap catches are 3 per 10 days, farmers were recommended to spray Emamectin benzoate (Proclaim) @0.4ml/lit or Spinosad (Tracer) @0.3ml/lit or Indoxacarb (Avaunt) @1ml/lit. Also demonstrated preparation of poison bait by using 10 kg of rice bran mixed with 2 kg of jaggery in 2 litres of water and 100g Thiodicarb (Larvin). The fermented mixture was made into small balls and demonstrated the application procedure of poison bait in maize whorls by involving the farmers. Dr. G. Swathi, Dr. Ch. Anusha and Smt. L. Suhasini and farmers have participated in the programme.
