National Sports Day Celebrated on 28.08.2024 at Agricultural college Adilabad

Agricultural College Adilabad organized National Sports Day on 29.08.2024. The programme was presided over by Dr. M. Suresh, Officer Incharge Student Affairs. The event started with welcoming of the chief guest Sri. Damodar Jadav, Sports personality and cricket Coach from Adilabad, Associate Dean, Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan on to the dias. It was followed by the introduction of the programme besides the significance of the National Sports Day. Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Associate Dean, in his welcome address briefed about the programme and History of Major Dhyan Chand Singh and his hardships and efforts behind achieving three gold medals in three consecutive Olympics (1928, 1932 and 1936). He suggested the students play regularly sports and games on account of the benefits (physical and mental fitness). The chief guest Sri. Dharmender Jadav, Sports person and cricket coach from Adilabad District created awareness among the staff and students about Fitness and stressed up on the need of Sports & games in daily life and suggested the students to select sports as a Career as per their interest and calibre since it helps in shaping a bright future. Later Physical Director Smt. Nagamani stressed about the significance of sports and physical activities. She also emphasised that playing sports help to stay fit and healthy, reduce stress and build a strong character. Sports also teach us teamwork, discipline, punctuality and perseverance. It was followed by Fit India pledge taken by the faculty and students as a part of the National sports day celebrations. As a part of this National Sports day, different sports competitions were conducted to students of B.Sc.(Hons.) Ag II year and certificates were distributed to the winners. The programme was attended by Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Associate Dean, Dr. M. Suresh, OISA, Dr.Rajeswari, Professor (Plant Pathology), Dr.K. Bhanu Rekha, Professor (Agro.) Dr. G. Anitha, Associate Professor (Ento.) and other teaching and Non- teaching staff of Agricultural College. The event ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr.M. Suresh, OISA, Agricultural College, Adilabad.
