The PJTSAU 10th Foundation Day was grandly celebrated at ARS, Karimnagar involving all the ARS and DAATTC staff, RAWEP Students and farmers from adopted village Nagulamallial, Adarsha Farm Producer Organization of Chinthakunta and other villages of Baddipally and Kondapur of Karimnagar and Pothur of Rajanna Sircilla Districts. Dr. P. Madhukar Rao, Scientist (Agro.) welcomed the dignitaries onto the dias. Training programme on different aspects of Paddy and other crops cultivation was organized for the benefit of farmers. Dr.G.Manjulatha, Principal Scientist (Agro.) & Head, chaired the session and addressed the gathering and stated the mandate of the University in research, teaching and extension services, importance of the day, activities of the University for the welfare of the farming community and detailed the weed management in Paddy (Transplanted, DSR, WDSR & Drum seed) and other crops. The District Agricultural Officer Smt. Bhagyalaxmi who has joined recently has addressed the farmers and stated that she would be certainly available and approachable to the farmers in their needs. The Assistant Director of Agriculture, Sri. Randheer Reddy of Karimnagar has also declared that he would be reachable to the farmers for addressing their concerned agricultural issues. Paddy and other crops cultivation practices (Transplanted, DSR, WDSR & Drum seed) was detailed by Dr. P. Madhukar Rao, Scientist (Agro.). Paddy and other crops varieties & characteristics was discussed with the farmers by Dr.G.Usharani, Scientist (Pl.Br). Pest management in Paddy and other crops was informed by Dr. M. Rajendra prasad, Scientist (Crop Protection). Disease management in Paddy and other crops was explained by Dr. A.Vijaya Bhaskar, Senior Scientist (Path.). FAQ’s in Paddy and other crops cultivation was addressed by Dr.K.Madan Mohan Reddy, Scientist (TOT). Eventually, to the farmers was taken up. Later, live telecast of the proceedings of the 10th PJTSAU foundation day was made to all the farmers and gathering. On the eve of Foundation Day, Sri. Cheruku Ravinder Reddy of Pothur village of Rajanna Sircilla district has successfully practiced broadcasting in paddy in his 15 acres which has eventually spread to 300 acres in the Mandal for which he was felicitated as one of the best farmers. Finally, vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. K. Madan Mohan Reddy, Scientist (TOT). Around, 60 farmers from various villages have participated in the programme involving all the teaching, non-teaching staff, timescale and contract workers and RAWEP students from Pothur village of Rajanna Sircilla District.
