College of Community Science, Saifabad, PJTSAU celebrated 75th Independence Day on 15.08.2021 with great fervor and patriotism. The chief guest of the programme, Dr. M. Sarada Devi, Professor, and Univ. Head of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, hoisted the flag and addressed the students. It was emphasized that India is a democratic country and we, the citizens, are honoured to be a part of the great nation where peace and freedom are the mainstays of our culture. Both of them need to be pursued since without need fulfillment there is no contentment in life. Each person is unique and can contribute to the nation in one form or another. We, the humans, have a choice - to choose peace, admiration to life. Dr. D. Ratna Kumari, Dean, Faculty of Community Science and Associate Dean, College of Community Science in her address to the Community Science Family, urged the students and staff to shine like a ‘Diamond’ like the way the great nation, India did, in its 75 years of attaining freedom. On this day this year in 2021– the ‘Diamond Jubilee year’, the struggles that the nation underwent for freedom were reminisced. It was reiterated that one should be willing to take up responsibilities, by standing tall through any hardships one might encounter in the process. The fruit of such hardships is sweeter, which is now being evidenced by the way Indians have forayed into various spheres – the recent medals won is one such achievement that India is very proud of. In 1906, when the flag was designed, it had three colors, religious symbols, and stars, all of which have evolved over the years to the present flag representing - unity in diversity. The nation has withstood alot of weathering in these 75 years and is now shining like a ‘Diamond’. In Telugu, the word ‘Jubilee’ means Sunada Samvastram. Sunada means good tune. She urged the students to carry forward the good tune – ‘Sunada’ and shine like diamonds in the coming years and stand as an outstanding example for future generations. We, the citizens, should stand united and achieve more laurels like the athletes who have won medals for India in the recently concluded Olympics. We need to contribute to the development of our great nation and carry the torch forward. In a short cultural programme, two speeches were given by two students - S. Sonali (III Year) and O. Keerthana (IV Year). A solo song was sung by S. Mamatha of III Year B.Sc (Hons.) Community Science. A group song by Kavya and group (IV Year) and a solo Dance by S.
