DAATT Centre, Warangal in coordination with RARS, Warangal organized 7th University Foundation Day programme in the seminar hall of RARS, Warangal. At the outset, Dr. B. Anil Kumar, Senior Scientist, DAATTC, Warangal invited & welcomed the dignitaries on to the dias. At first, the dignitaries on the dias and all the staff offered floral tributes to professor Jayashankar followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries & University song. Dr. R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, in his inaugural address explained the progress made by the University since the first foundation day i.e., from 03-09-2014. The teaching and non teaching staff, contractual and outsourcing staff along with the students strived hard under the dynamic leadership of our honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. V. Praveen Rao to place our University in 6th place in the country with respect to farming universities of India and 78th position with respect to all universities in India. Dr. R. Uma Reddy discussed about the release of varieties of cereals, pulses, oilseeds & forage crops, establishment of 3 new agricultural colleges, 1 food science & technology college, 2 new krishi vigyan kendras, 4 polytechnic colleges, 1 AICRIP centre besides the infrastructure created during the last 7 years. The value addition initiative of the university resulted in the sale of Kartha Gold (Safflower oil) and Pro Pulse (Tur dal) at Thandur, Sesame Gold (Sesame oil) at Jagtial. Dr. R. Uma Reddy also discussed about the recent inauguration of Agriculture Hub at Rajendranagar for entrepreneurship development in students & farmers apart from linking of agriculture with the software technology. Chief guest, Dr. M. Balaram expressed foundation day wishes to the farmers and staff. Dr. M. Balram spoke about the infrastructure created with respect to Agricultural College, Warangal and said that the online classes to students are in progress due to the Covid-19 problem. Later, 3 progressive farmers of the district were felicitated. Qushur Pasha of Dharga, Kazipet was felicitated for practicing integrated farming system (Agriculture, diary, horticulture, poultry & rearing of goat, sheep & other animals) & getting year round income. Women progressive farmer, Smt. Jayanthi was felicitated for getting regular & higher income from various enterprises viz, Agriculture, poultry and diary. She is practicing drum seeder technology in paddy to overcome labour shortage. She is cultivating black rice and practicing organic farming. Another farmer, Maggam Sambaiah of Jakaram village was felicitated for practicing latest technology in agriculture apart from dissemination of agricultural technology into farming community. He is a post graduate & practicing agriculture & diary. DAATTC, Coordinator, Dr. E. Narsaiah, teaching & non teaching staff, contractual and outsourcing staff of RARS, Warangal & teaching staff of agricultural college, Warangal and huge number of farmers participated in the 7th university foundation day celebration.
