Audio Conference with the farmers of Kumram Bheem Asifabad (Aspirational) District on Importance of intercropping in Cotton with Red gram and World Milk Day-2021

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli, Mancherial District has organized Audio conference in collaboration with the Reliance Foundation on “Importance of intercropping in Cotton with Red gram and World Milk Day-2021”. In this audio conference, 42 number of farmers from different mandals Eiz., Asifabad, Dahegaon and Chinthalamanepalli (Aspirational District Kumrumbheem Asifabad) clarified the doubts with the experts of KVK, Bellampalli on 02.06.2021. Dr. M. Rajeshwar Naik, Programme Coordinator, Senior Scientist (Soil Science) has addressed the farmers about the necessity of inter cropping of pulse crop in cotton crop during kharif. Mancherial & K.B Asifabad district farmers generally cultivating the cotton predominantly in kharif as a sole crop. Cotton as sole crop can reduce the fertility of soil, in this context suggested the redgram crop as inter crop in cotton with 4:1 or 6:1 or 8:1 ratio. Further he explained the benefits of redgram intercropping in cotton like, increase the fertility of soil by nitrogen fixation of redgram crop, increase the soil microbial status by adding additional biomass and compensation of main crop losses by additional income by inter crop. Further, Dr. Shivakrishna Kota, SMS (Agricultural Extension) addressed the farmers about importance of milk and milk based products in human life on the eve of world milk day-2021. He explained about different opportunities available in dairy industry to the farmers and stressed upon the commodity interest groups especially function of dairy farmers groups to avail subsidies provided by state and central government. For this particular audio conference, Sri. A. Nagaraju, SMS (Plant Protection), Dr. I. Thirupathi, SMS (Agronomy) and Dr. B. Sathish Kumar SMS (Agrometeorology) were attended.
