Awareness programme on Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) on 03-02-2022

Agricultural College, Jagtial has organized an ‘Awareness Programme on Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)’ on 03.02.2022 in the Adopted Village Gullapeta, Jagtial Rural (M). Dr. S. Narender Reddy, Associate Dean Agricultural College, Jagtial and Mr. G. Ratnakar, Project Manager, Jai Kisan – Seva Spoorthi Foundation, Hyderabad have participated in the programme. Dr. S. Narender Reddy briefed about the present scenario of farming sector and marketing aspects. He also added that formation of FPO is the right path to overcome the middlemen and other marketing related problems. Mr. G. Ratnakar, Project Manager has given information related to the FPO, its rules and regulations, policies and procedures in establishment of an FPO. He also briefed about the benefits of for farming community with the formation of FPO. Mr. J. Tirupathi, Sarpanch, Gullapeta Village has given information of the village, cropping pattern and other activities that are being carried over in the village. He also discussed about the various problems faced by the farmers in coping up with markets. Dr. G. Seshu and Dr. T. Sravan Kumar, Assistant Professors have shared the information that has been done in the Gullapeta village for last two years. Further, the farmers have clarified their doubts regarding the procedure and other related aspects in formation of FPOs. A total of 25 farmers have actively participated in the awareness programme.
