Village adoption team organised an orientation program and discussion on feasibility of cultivating oil palm in adopted village Kothapeta. Dr. Thirupathi, Horticulture Officer from Department of Horticulture made the farmers aware about the oilpalm cultivation along with the support offered by the state government. Due to the village is predominant with the black cotton soil, Dr. Balram, Associate Dean, Agricultural college, Warangal has advised the farmers to go for the soil texture testing along with the soil nutrient analysis before taking decision of undertaking the oil palm cultivation. Dr. M. Harika, Assistant Professor, (Horti.) explained the and risks of waterlogging conditions in black soil to develop rootrot disease to the crop. Dr. J. Kamalakar, Assistant professor (SSAC) along with Dr. Thirupati, HO and Mr. Vignyan, MAO and Village adoption members has visited the field in the village explained the procedure of taking soil sample for the soil texture analysis. So as to understand the extent of suitability of existing black soil of the village for the cultivation of oil palm.
