A training programme was organized on the occasion of World Water Day by DAATTC, Tornala on 22.03.2021 at Erravelly (V), Markook mandal of Siddipet district on “Water saving technologies in paddy and ID crops” where there was community drip in 2200 acres area. Sri. J. Vijay, discussed about the water saving technologies in paddy like direct seeded rice under wet condition, drum seeding, AWD technologies in paddy and their importance regarding saving of water. Later, Smt. Ch. Pallavi, explained the farmers about theme of the day as valuing water and discussed water saving technologies in ID crops through drip and sprinkler, farm pond technology and recharge of the ground water through percolation tanks and urged farmers towards growing ID crops under different water saving technologies. Smt. Saritha Scientist (Breeding) from ARS, Tornala told about the seed production aspects in paddy and pulses. Later, felicitated three farmers Yadhav Reddy from Ippalagudem village who have grown gherkins under drip in 1.2 acres area and gained Rs.1,48,000/- net income, Tattari Jagan from Angadikistapur village who have produced quality hybrid seed production in paddy and commercial sweet corn cultivation under drip, Putta Kumar from Ganeshpalli village who have grown Organic vegetables under drip. Finally, scientists of DAATTC and ARS, Tornala made all the farmers along with agriculture department staff to take oath on water saving and also by creating awareness in neighboring farmers regarding water saving technologies. Sarpanches from different villages of Markook mandal, Mandal coordinators, Agriculture Departmental Officials Dr. T. Nagender Reddy (Mandal Agriculture Officer), AEOs Machender and Rajinikanth along with 70 farmers from five villages have participated in the training programme.
