In the adopted village Kothapeta, at present the cotton crop is at the flowering stage, gradual incidence of pink bollworm is observed along with sucking pests like leafhoppers, aphids, thrips and whiteflies in and around the cotton fields. Village adoption team has established a demo plot for integrated pest management (IPM) in the cotton crop. As a part of development of this IPM demo plot, on 08.09.2022 pheromone traps (for Pink bollworm) were installed in the IPM plot and nearby cotton fields as four per acre. Earlier stem application with Imidacloprid and water at the rate of 1:20 and installation of yellow sticky traps is done in the same demo plot. Further, Dr. Ch.Anusha, Asst.prof (Ento.) has explained the farmers about observation of pheromone traps. She suggested spraying neem oil (1500PPM) at 5ml/L or Quinolphos as 2ml/L at 15days interval when 5-8 adult insects observed in pheromone traps and 10% of Rosette cotton flowers.
