Demonstration on multi crop shredder” and “Training programme on rabi paddy seed production” at Ibrahimpur, an adopted village of ARS, Tornala on 03-02-2021

A “Demonstration on multi crop shredder” and “Training programme on rabi paddy seed production” was organized by Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Sr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head, Dr. E. Umarani, Scientist (Pl. Br.) and Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC) from ARS, Tornala at Ibrahimpur, Narayanraopet mandal, Siddipet district on 03-02-2021. Mr. J. Vijay, Scientist (Crop production) and Smt. Ch. Pallavi, Coordinator from DAATTC, Tornala, Mr. Nagarjuna, AEO, Ibrahimpur village, Mr. Devaiah, Sarpanch, Ibrahimpur village, Mr. K. Nagesh Reddy, President of Rythu Samanvaya Samithi (RSS) and 25 farmers from the village have participated in the programme. At the outset, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, gave a brief note on importance of soil fertility improvement, increasing labour problems and need for farm mechanization. He also explained about multi crop shredder and its multiple uses viz., chaffing of standing crop into tiny pieces, twings or branches of fruit crops and fodder crops, followed by availability of multicrop shredders, cost, operational maintenance and its efficiency. He also explained that use of multicrop shredder avoids burning of crop residues which in turn reduce the air pollution. Farmers were practically demonstrated working of multicrop shredder on cotton, redgram and teak branches. Later, a training programme was organized on paddy seed production in rabi at gram panchayath building, Ibrahimpur. Mr. M. Nagaraju, AEO, Ibrahimpur, gave an overview of rice varieties (IR 64, MTU 1010, KNM-118 and RNR-15048) that are being grown by the village farmers and seed sources. Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, has dealt in detail about the agronomic management and pest and diseases management aspects to be followed in seed production plots of paddy in rabi season. Dr. N. Sainath, gave a note on soil fertility status of Ibrahimpur village. He also explained about the nutrient management in paddy, micronutrient deficiencies, management of problematic soils and sources of fertilizers. Dr. E. Umarani, has emphasized on selection of seed material, isolation distance, rouging and processing to be followed in participatory seed production by the farmers to produce quality seed and discussed about seed availability for kharif, 2021 at ARS, Tornala. Many farmers actively participated in farmer-scientist interactive sessions and expressed their willingness to take up on farm seed production at least in 100 acres with the support of ARS, Tornala from ensuing kharif, 2021.
