Farmers Awareness Programme and Diagnostic Field Visit at Nagulapet Village, Korutla Mandal, Jagtial on 01-02-2021

Regional Agricultural Research Station, Polasa, Jagtial District Organized the Farmer's Awareness Programme on Vyavasaya Digubadulapai Vaatavarana Prabhavam under the GKMS (Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa) scheme at Nagulapet village, Korutla Mandal, Jagtial District on O 1.02.2021. Dr. P. Jaganmohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, discussed the motto and objective of the project that is the management of crop cultivation from sowing to harvesting according to weather wise. Then introduced about the 'parameters of weather that influenced the crop yield as well as different agricultural operation like sowing, spraying, irrigation etc. Then highlighted the role of weather based Agro advisory bulletin, its nature, its periodicity and how it is disseminated to the ultimate level of farmers .. In this regard pointed out the effect of adverse weather on crop cultivation and to minimize the loss due to this adverse weather. Then P. Suresh, District Agricultural Officer, Jagtial explained about the present weather conditions and the practices need to follow in different agriculture and horticulture crops (Mango) cultivating during yasangi, 2020-21. Then N. Navatha, Scientist (Agronomy) gave a brief introduction about the activity of AMFU Jagtial, under Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa and suggested the farmers to follow forecasting for selecting the appropriate time for land preparation and sowing. Discussed about the contingency planning due to adverse weather as well as soil and water. Then suggested the farmers to follow the AAS Bulletin and make crop planning according to the weather forecast. Finally explained meghdoot app and downloaded the Meghdoot app with farmers.in this programme. Then other scientists also gave brief introduction on Weather impact on crops and also explained about weather forecast plays significant role in increasing productivity, minimizing the input cost and favorable weather conditions for pests and disease problems in different crops. Farmers were very much interested about this programme. They also want to know about the relation of disease and pest attack paddy. They were also interested• about the information transfer through Whatsup message. They agreed that the SMS service will be very helpful for them for deciding the perfect time for spraying, irrigation and fertilizer application. After the meeting visited the stem borer and blast affected paddy fields and gave suggestions and recommendations to farmer to control pest and diseases in paddy. Khayyum, Mandal Co-option, Agro-met field observer and 70 farmers Attended.
