Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy, Director of Research, PJTSAU visited ARS, Tornala on 20-09-2023 for review of the technical programme. The programme started at 8.30 Am. Enroute to ARS, Tornala, Dr. P. Raghu rami Reddy, Director of Research, PJTSAU along with Dr. R. Uma Reddy, ADR, RARS, Warangal, Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist and Head, ARS, Tornala, Sri J. Vijay, Coordinator and Ch Pallavi, Scientist (TOT) of DAATTC, Tornala visited cotton crop sown in High Density Planting System (HDPS) at Mettu village of Thoguta mandal, Siddipet district. Later interacted with farmer about the growth of HDPS cotton, plant population per square meter, spraying of Mepiquat chloride, fertilizer schedule to be followed for HDPS cotton. He also visited minikit field RDR-1200 of paddy, followed by minikits of maize hybrids DHM- 206 and expressed his satisfaction about the performance and maintenance of minikit fields.Further, Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy, Director of Research, PJTSAU along with the research scientists visited paddy seed production plots of ARS, Tornala pertaining to JGL-24423 variety at Irkode village, Siddipet Rural mandal and discussed about the problems faced by farmers in cultivating JGL-24423. On arriving to ARS, Tornala inaugurated the new block for seed production of sunflower under project Revival of Sunflower. Further inaugurated the shadenet house for raising of vegetable nurseries at APT, Tornala. Then proceeded to visit the machine transplanted seed production plot of JGL-24423 variety of paddy at Badnakal village, and appreciated the farmer about the good crop growth. Then proceeded to visit the seed production plot of KNM-118 variety of paddy at Ibrahimpur village, Narayanraopet mandal, Siddipet district and discussed with farmer about the management practices to be followed to control the stem borer infestation. In continuation, Director of Research participated in Farmer-Scientist interaction meeting at Ibrahimpur, adopted village of ARS, Tornala and addressed the farmers and informed about the recently released paddy varieties from PJTSAU, importance of green manure crops and its in-situ incorporation, adoption of crop rotation, soil test based fertilizer application, management of stem borer in paddy by following mass trapping method (installation of pheromone traps in large scale) and also suggested farmers to take necessary pre-cautionary measures for rice blast. Dr. R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal mainly emphasized about the best management practiced to be followed to get high yields in seed production plots of paddy. Later, along with scientists clarified the doubts raised by the farmers in paddy, maize, redgram and cotton crops followed by visits to the KNM-118 seed production plots of paddy. Mr. Nagarjuna, AEO, Mr. Devaiah (Sarpanch), Mr. Nagesh Reddy, RSS member from Ibrahimpur (V), Narayanraopet (M) also shared their experiences. All the Scientists of ARS & DAATTC Tornala along with 30 farmers participated in the programme. While returning to ARS, Tornala visited Ranganayaka sagar lift irrigation project located in Siddipet district which has an aycut of 1.10 lakh acres under the technical guidance of project engineers. Later, Dr. P. Raghu rami Reddy, Director of Research, PJTSAU visited APT, Tornala and interacted with first year and second year students of Diploma in Agriculture and given suggestions on how to succeed in life and educated them about the importance of physical education and discipline. Congratulated the staff and students for receiving best polytechnic award 2022 and overall championship in sports and cultural activities in both boys and girls team during Interpolytecnic Sports Meet 2022 conducted at APT, Palem. Dr. P. Raghu rami Reddy, Director of Research, PJTSAU and Dr.R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal visited ARS, Tornala and reviewed technical programme of each and every scientist by visiting their experimental fields and suggested necessary improvements. Further, visited seed production plots of redgram, greengram and paddy. Directed Dr. Rama Devi, recently joined Entomologist to formulate technical programme duly addressing the location specific problems. After the review of technical programme discussed about the budget position and revolving fund at the station. Concluded the review at 7.45 pm and appreciated the staff for their contribution in progress and development of research station with in a short span of 7-8 years of its establishment
