KVK, Malyal organized Training programme on Fall army worm management in Maize

A farmers’ training programme on “Fall Army Worm management in Maize” was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malyal at Kollapuram Village, Gudur Mandal, Mahabubabad district on 28-01-2021. The Programme sponsored by ATMA, Department of Agriculture, Mahabubabad district, was chaired by the Village Sarpanch Sri P. Sudhakar Rao. Smt. A. Ramulamma, SMS (Plant Protection) explained about the management of fall army worm in Maize. She urged the farmers to avoid bio products and go for integrated management of the invasive pest. Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture) briefed the farmers about Chilli pest and disease management. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal addressed the house, gave tips for crop management in Yasangi Rice under present situation. Responding to the request made by the farmers, the programme coordinator explained about high density planting system in Cotton and answered to the queries raised on use of bio-products, alternate methods of planting in Rice. Sri P. Sudhakar Rao, village sarpanch, Kollapuram village opined that the programme is the need of the hour as in the village, fall army worm incidence is observed currently and such timely training programmes and technical inputs from scientific staff would definitely help in improvement of agricultural practices. Above 32 farmers attended the programme. The programme was also followed by a visit to maize fields in the village.
