The two day 6th National Youth Convention on innovation and agricultural reforms for farmer prosperity is jointly organized by Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) and All India Agricultural Students Association (AIASA), had begin on 20-02-2021 through virtual mode. Dr R.C. Agarwal, Deputy Director General (Education), Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR) had delivered the Chief Guest address through online from New Delhi. While speaking at the virtual meeting. Dr. Agarwal, had said that, ICAR is frequently modifying the curriculum of agricultural courses based on the present and future demands in agricultural sector. he further says that, ICAR is trying to make the students as self dependent and entrepreneurs to ensure that, ICAR is funding to establish incubation centers and experiential learning units in agricultural Universities in the country he added. he urged the Universities to maintain the data base of experimental learning units of various Universities and also establish as many incubation centers in campuses. Dr Agarwal had made cal to the youth to retain in agriculture by showing their innovative farming methods and establishing profit oriented business units. Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Vice Chancellor, PJTSAU, had delivered the welcome address. while addressing the gathering from University Auditorium Dr V. Praveen Rao had said that, COVID-19 has thrown several challenges as well as opportunities in agricultural sector. He advised the young graduates utilize the opportunities by innovative way of business models he added. He pointed out the need of safe and nutritional food for public is essential he said. Dr Ashok Dhalwai, CEO, National Rain Fed Authority, delivered the Guest of Honor Speech. While speaking Dr. Dhalwai has advised that, every Agricultural University should start the courses in basic sciences. Students also impart knowledge in basic science courses. The graduates pursuing agricultural courses should not shy about their course. Agriculture is evergreen economic subject. Agriculture can only sustain the societal development he said. As part of this 6th National Youth Convention several awards were presented in offline mode at University Auditorium, Rajendranagar. Life Time Achievement Award presented to Dr. Vilas Madhukar Bhale, Vice Chancellor , Dr PR Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, Best Vice Chancellor presented to Professor N Kumar, VC, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, AIASA National Award for outstanding leadership in Agriculture-2019 was presented to Dr. G.P Singh, Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley, Karnal. several publications were also released on this occasion.
