International Yoga Day celebrated on 21st June, 2022 at College of Agriculture Rajendranagar on 21-06-2022

International Day of Yoga (IDY), Yoga day or Antarashtriya Yoga Divas is an annual event celebrated all over the world on June 21st since its inception in 2015. The idea of IDY was first proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at United Nations General Assembly and it was declared unanimously by the UNGA, to celebrate International Yoga Day on 21st of June every year. Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfillment, harmony between man and nature, a holistic approach to health and well being. Realising the importance of yoga, the eighth international yoga day is celebrated on 21st June 2022 in the entire country with the theme “Yoga for Humanity”. At PJTSAU, NSS unit of College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, has organized various activities which includes yoga demonstration drill, slogan and article writing competitions for students and guest lecture on health benefits of yoga. Yoga demonstration drill was conducted from 6.30 to 7.30 A.M at sports complex, Dr. S. Sudheer Kumar, Registrar, Dr Jella Satyanaryana, Dean of Students Affairs, Dr.J.Padmaja, Director of Polytechnic, Dr. C. Narender Reddy, Associate Dean,College of Agriculture , Rajendranagar, and PJTSAU, NSS programme officers, Dr.D. Shivani, Dr.A.Meena, ,DrB.V. Vara Prasad, Dr.P.Revathi and Dr.RavindraNaik, OISA, Dr.K. Pavan Chandra Reddt, Dr. Upender and Dr. Chaitanya, NCC officer, P.G students, teaching, non teaching staff participated in the program. Yoga guru Sri Mool Chand Sharma explained the importance of yoga in daily life and demonstrated various asanas explaining the benefit of each asana. Dr.Sai Krishna Ayurvedic Doctor lead the session by guiding all the participants in performing the asanas and urged the participants to practice daily and make yoga as a part of their lives. NSS programme officers, P.G students, teaching, nonteaching staff around 200 students participated in the meeting. NCC officer and NCC students also participated in the event.
