Professor JayashankarTelangana State Agricultural University has released the 15 seed varieties in four different crops here on Friday on the auspicious hands of the in charge vice chancellor, Sri M. Raghunandan Rao, at PRESS MEET organised in the premises of College of Community science. Dr S Sudheer Kumar, Registrar, PJTSAU, Dr Jagadeeshwar, Director of Research, PJTSAU and Dr V Sudharani, Director of Extension, PJTSAU were present in the press meet briefed by VC and other officers. During the year 2022, eight new varieties developed by PJTSAU in three crops viz., five in rice, two in fodder bajra and one in sesame were approved and released through CVRC for cultivation in different states of the country which were published in Indian Gazette.The varieties which are released on Friday areat state level seven varieties belonging to three crops viz., five in rice, one each black gram and sesame were recommended for release through SVRC meeting held on 3rd September, 2022 under the chairmanship of Sri. M. Raghunanadan Rao, APC & Secretary, Dept. of Agril., Govt. of Telangana. Accordingly, the same proposals were reviewed by CVRC committee on 26th October, 2022 at New Delhi and identified as promising and approved for release for the state of Telangana. Among them, five in rice, one each in black gram and sesame were submitted for approval by the 4th State Sub-Committee on Crop Standards and Release of Varieties during the meeting held on 03.09.2022 under the Chairmanship of. After examining the proposals entry by entry, all these seven cultures were accepted for release by SVRC.
