- Reginal Agricultural Research Station, Polasa, Jagtialorganizedtraining programme on “Preparedness for Vanakalam, 2022-23” at adopted village, Veldurthi, Jagtialon 03.06.22.
- Dr. D.A. Rajini Devi, Scientist (Agril. Economics explained about the extent of area under cultivation in Veldurthi as 5584.37 A in vanakalam, 2021-22. Among the total area, paddy, maize, turmeric, redgram and mango crops occupied major portion accounting to 694.04 A, 290.16 A, 135.13 A, 58.03 A and 54.21 A respectively. she also briefed about the “Vanakalam, 2022-23 pre-sowing price forecast information released from PJTSAU” and urged the farmers to cultivate the crops that are having good demand in the market. She also suggested the farmers to adopt crop diversification strategy for increased economic returns.
- Dr. B. Laxmi Prasanna, Scientist (Plant Breeding) explained about “Dry direct seeding in paddy”, and motivated farmers to cultivate high yielding verities with new technologies developed by PJTSAU to reap higher net returns.
- Dr. P. Ravi, Scientist (Soil science &Agril. Chemistry) enlightened the farmers regarding “Importance of soil testing and recommended doses of fertilizers”for paddy, maize, turmeric, red gram and mango. He also explained about the importance of organic fertilizers for improved soil health.
- P. Sadvi, Scientist (Agril. Extension) explained about “Profitable integrated farming system model” adopted by progressive farmer, G. Ravi of Gullapet village and advised farmers to adopt IFS for better profits.
- Chandra Shekar, Tirupathireddy progressive farmers, Laxmipur village shared their experiences of “Turmeric cultivation by raised bed system” in terms of disease resistance and yield advantage.
- Later the knowledge material on “Soil testing, Forecast price information and Success story of IFS model” were distributed to farmers.
- In this programme, Dr. D.A. Rajini Devi, Scientist (Ag. Economics), P. Sadvi, Scientist (Agril. Extension), Dr. B. Laxmi Prasanna, Scientist (Plant Breeding) and Dr. P. Ravi, Scientist (Soil science &Agril. Chemistry), Praveen Goud, Sarpanch, Ramya Sri, Vice Sarpanch, Veldurthi, Chandra Shekar, Tirupathireddy progressive farmers, Laxmipur and 28 No. of farmers were participated.
