Training programme on rabi rice production technology at Ibrahimpur village on 18-12-2020

One day training programme on rabi rice production technology was conducted on 18-12-2020 at Ibrahimpur village (an adopted village of ARS, Tornala) of Narayanraopet mandal, Siddipet district jointly by Gramodaya Chamber of Commerce and Technology (G-COT), ARS, Tornala (PJTSAU) and Dept. of Agriculture. Dr. N.R.G. Verma, Principal Scientist (Ento.), Dr. Y. Chandramohan, Senior Scientist (Pl. Br.) from RRC, Rajendranagar, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Senior Scientist (Agro.) & Head, ARS, Tornala, Mr. Kameshwar Raju from GCOT, Mr. Harsha from Deccan Mudra Company, Mr. Nagarjuna, AEO, Mr. Nagesh Reddy, RSS President, Mr. Devaiah, Village Sarpanch and 40 farmers were present. At the outset, Mr. Nagarjuna apprised of the participants, about Agriculture profile and other infrastructure facilities available in the village. Dr. Y. Chandramohan explained about high yielding varieties suitable for the state of Telangana (Telangana sona, KNM-118 and JGL-24423), different rice cultivation methods with main emphasis on direct seeded rice, integrated nutrient and weed management for achieving higher yield. He further explained about importance of low Glycemic Index (GI) in Telangana sona variety. Dr. N.R.G. Verma explained in detail about measures for effective management of stemborer, BPH, blast and gundhibug with main emphasis on IPM methods. Dr. A. V. Ramanjaneyulu discussed about activities taken up in the adopted village in the last two years, importance of RNR-15048 variety, timely weed management and importance of mechanization besides MoU between PJTSAU-G-COT-Deccan Mudra in branding of Telangana sona rice. Mr. Kameshwar Raju informed all saying that G-COT in collaboration with Deccan Mudra Company is trying to benefit the farmers by giving a better market price (Rs. 2200 instead of 1880 per quintal) and consumers by supplying low GI rice at a low rate (Rs. 85-90/kg instead of prevailing market price (>Rs. 120/kg).
