Training Programme on “Production Technologies in Rabi Sunflower and Distribution of M.B.Plough and Disc Plough” Under Scheduled Caste Subplan (Scsp)” for Tornala and Chinnagundavelly Villages at ARS, Tornala on 02-02-2021

A training programme on “Production Technologies in Rabi Sunflower” under scheduled caste subplan (SCSP)” was organized at ARS, Tornala for Tornala and Chinnagundavelly villages by Mrs. D. Swetha, Scientist (Agro) and Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Sr. Scientist (Agro). on 22-01-2021. Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC), Dr. E. Umarani, Scientist (Pl. Br.) and Mrs. A. Saritha, Scientist (Pl. Br.) from ARS, Tornala and Mr. J. Vijay, Scientist (TOT) and Smt. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist, DAATTC, Tornala village have participated in the programme. The Chief Guest of the programme Honarable Finance Minister, Shri. T. Harish Rao garu along Shri. M. Ravinder Reddy, SUDA Chairman and 50 beneficiary SC farmers from two villages (29 farmers from Tornala and 21 farmers from Chinnagundavelly) have attended the programme. At the outset, Mrs. D. Swetha, Scientist (Agro.) has apprised of the objectives of the SCSP and agronomic practices to be followed for better yields in sunflower crop. Smt. A. Saritha, Scientist (Pl. Br.) gave brief note on seed production in major rabi crops. Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC) explained about fertilizer management in different rabi crops. Dr. E. Umarani, Scientist (Pl. Br.) discussed about different sunflower hybrids and seed production in sunflower and paddy crops. Smt. Ch. Pallavi discussed about weed management in rabi crops. Mr. J. Vijay, Scientist (TOT) explained rice establishment methods and Maize Fall Army worm. Later, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu gave an overview of research and extension activities of ARS, Tornala and DAATTC, Tornala. Finally, Honarable Finance Minister, Shri. T. Harish Rao garu requested the scientists to suggest profitable crops to make Agriculture a remunerative enterprise. At the end, he gave away M.B. plough and Disc plough to farmers of Tornala and Chinnagundavelly village (50 SC beneficiary) under SC subplan funded under AICRP on Sunflower by ICAR-IIOR, Hyderabad for the year 2019-20.
