Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Palem in collaboration with Nuzivedu seeds organized a Training programme on High Density Planting System (HDPS) in Cotton & Preparedness for Yasangi crops on 30.09.2022 at auditorium of RARS, Palem. The programme was chaired by Dr. R.Jagadeeshwar (Director of Research, PJTSAU) briefed about the mechanization and Integrated Crop Management Technologies in HDPS-Cotton. Suggested to all the farmers cultivate the alternate crops to paddy in ensuing yasangi season, preferably irrigated dry crops which are most suitable to shallow soils and helps in enrichment of soil fertility. Dr.M. Goverdhan, (ADR, RARS, Palem) insisted the farmers to cultivate the short duration cotton varieties so that farmers can cultivate Cotton followed by oil seed or pulse crops. Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, PC, KVK, Palem presented importance of HDPS cultivation in Cotton and also stressed more on alternate crops to Paddy like Greengram, Blackgram, Castor & Groundnut. To encourage the HDPS Cotton cultivation KVK, Palem is demonstrated in instructional farm by using the two Bt hybrids, one Cotton variety i.e. ADB-39 by following the spacing of 60 cmX20cm and Bt variety NCS-2778 & RCH-665 by following the spacing of 80cmX20cm. The motto of HDPS Cotton cultivation is reducing the spacing, increase the number plants/acre so that farmers will get the higher yields. Dr. Thirumal Rao (Principal scientist, ARS, Adilabad) given presentation on promotion of integrated crop management (ICM) aspects, insisted farmers to take up the spraying operations only pest incidence is above the ETL. In all the Cotton growing areas cautioned to follow the IPM practices to overcome the incidence of Tobacco Streak Virus (TBSV) like installation of yellow, blue sticky traps and importance of cost reduction technologies in HDPS. In this programme Dr. Pushavathi (AD, Palem), Venkeshwarlu (DAO, NGKL), Sri. Govind (DDA, Hyd), Scientist of KVK & RARS, Palem, Sri. Narasimha Reddy & Virendra (From Nuzivedu seeds), 4 division ADAs, 20 MAOs, 30 AEOs and 524 members of the farmers from Nagarkurnool dist were participated.
