On the occasion of World Pulses Day an awareness cum training programme was conducted on "Importance of Pulses cultivation" to the farmers residing in the erstwhile Nagarkurnool and Mahbubnagar districts of Southern Telangana Zone at RARS, Palem on 10-02-2021. Around 51 farmers have participated in the programme. Dr.Ch.Damodar Raju, ADR (STZ) have addressed the farmers regarding the advaniages in the cultivation of Pulse crops and their nutritional benefits. The importance of pulses in daily life and their role in improving the soil health along with gaining sustainability in agriculture were explained to the farmers. Dr.M.Sujatha, Principal Scientist (Oilseeds) has sensitized the farmers in enhancing the area under pulses cultivation along with the nutritional benefits of pulses. Mrs.G.Neelima, Scientist (Pl.Br.) has explained the available varieties in Redgram, Greengram, Blackgram, Horsegram and Chickpea and urged the farmers to expand the cultivation in yasangi season with short duration pulses like Greengram, Blackgram, Horsegram and Chickpea while taking up Redgram cultivation in the Vanakalam. Dr.K.Sridhar, Scientist (Agro.) has explained the importance of mechanization and intercropping in Pulses along with the best management practices to the farmers. Mr.M.Rajashekar, SMS (PP), KVK, Palem has explained about the IPM practices in pulses. The scientists of RARS, Palem and KVK, Palem have participated in the programme.
