Training programme on sesame cultivation and distribution of sesame seed at adopted village, Veldurthi, Jagtial on 31-01-2023

• Regional Agricultural Research Station, Polasa, Jagtial organized training programme on “Sesame cultivation and distribution of sesame seed” at adopted village, Veldurthi, Jagtial on 31.01.23.
• Dr. D. Padmaja, Scientist (Plant Breeding) enlightened about seed production technologies of sesame and urged the farmers to adopt seed production for higher returns.
• Dr. N. Balram, Scientist (Plant Pathology) demonstrated seed treatment in sesame and also briefed about disease management practices of sesame.
• Dr. P. Ravi, Scientist (Soil science and Agril. Chemistry) created awareness about the fertilizer management practices in sesame.
• Dr. D.A. Rajini Devi, Scientist (Agril. Economics) explained about economics of sesame cultivation and also value addition of sesame.
• As part of the programme, sesame seeds were distributed to 16 farmers (Swetha-8 farmers and Jagtial Til 1-8 farmers) for Field Level Demonstration under AICRP on Sesame scheme at RARS, Jagtial.
• Later, conducted diagnostic field visit in paddy, maize, mustard and vegetable crops. In paddy, observed stem borer incidence and in Bottle gourd crop noticed Alternaria leafspot and suggested remedial measures for the control of same.
• In this programme, Dr. D.A. Rajini Devi, Scientist (Ag. Economics), i/c of adopted village, Dr. D. Padmaja, Scientist (Plant Breeding), Dr. N. Balram, Scientist (Plant Pathology) and Dr. P. Ravi, Scientist (Soil science and Agril. Chemistry), and 26 No. of farmers were participated.
