Training programme on “value added products of tomato” on 20-02-2021 at Damera village by Agricultural College, Warangal

A training programme on “value added products of tomato” was organized by the village adoption team of Agricultural College, Warangal in the adopted village Damera on 20-02-2021. Smt. M. Harika, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) explained the women and rural youth about different value added products that can be prepared using tomatoes. She explained that, during the glut prevailing in the market, tomatoes can be dehydrated, pickled and processed into ketch up or sauce which have great demand in the market and fetch a premium price. A hands on demonstration for ketchup preparation was conducted where in the women and rural youth have actively participated. After that a method demonstration on erection of fruit fly traps in musk melon for monitoring of fruit fly incidence was conducted by Dr. Ch. Anusha, Assistant Professor (Entomology). A total of 20 women, youth and 5 farmers, staff of Agricultural College, Warangal, Dr. G. Swathi, Assistant Professor (Agril. Extension) and Smt. Ch. Yashaswini, Assistant Professor (Plant Pathology) have participated in the programme.
