Vegetable seed kit distribution under Tribal Sub Plan, 2020-21” by KVK, Malyal on 28-08-2021

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malyal organized vegetable seed kit distribution programme in the project adopted villages viz., Mattewada, Nelanvancha and Kongarigidda from Gudur mandal on 28-08-2021 to tribal farmer beneficiaries under Tribal Sub Plan project, 2020-21. The programme was held separtely in each of these villages, wherein, 231 no. of vegetable seed kits worth of Rs. 23,100/- were distributed to 231 tribal beneficiaries with an objective to promote balanced nutrition through kitchen gardening. Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture) & Co-PI of the project explained the importance of kitchen gardening and tips for establishment of model kitchen garden. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal reiterated that farmers should become self sufficient to meet the vegetable requirement of their families. They also should grow all the required vegetables for their family in their farm or backyard for balanced and diversified nutrition. During the farmer scientist interaction, she also explained about low cost and high result agro techniques in the existing crops like stem application in cotton; alleyways, alternate wet and drying in rice; ridge and furrow method of planting, seedling root dip, use of sticky traps in chilli which should be adopted by all the project beneficiaries for better economics in the respective crops. Sri. Muni Prasad, AEO, Gudur mandal and 128 farmers from the three villages participated in the programme.
