A workshop was organized by the Placement Cell on 11.8.2023 “Tips to Crack ICAR JRF” at Virtual classroom, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar at 9:30 AM. The workshop was led by Dr.K.Bhanu Rekha, Placement Incharge. The event stared with the welcome address by Dr.C.Narendra Reddy, Associate Dean, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar and Board Member, PJTSAU. Around 107 students across all the AELP units attended the programme. The workshop consisted of series of presentations by the mentors (2021 and 2022 successful Junior Research Fellows at PJTSAU) from the departments of Agronomy (Shridevi, Jinnur), Plant Sciences- Genetics and Plant Breeding (Mr.Abhishek and Rakshita, I Year), Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry (Sivaa and Vasavi, I year), Entomology (Swetha, I Year) and Social Sciences- Agricultural Extension (Sashi and Bhavani, II year). The workshop started with the presentation of Shridevi Jinnur from the department of Agronomy. It was focused on importance of JRF, broad areas and subjects under each area apart from exam pattern and allocation of marks. It also gave an overview of the topics, reference books and tips for achieving good rank. The Plant Sciences presentation covered the various subjects under this area, importance of time table schedule for preparation, regular revision, mock tests apart from exchange of material and constructive discussions with other campus students preparing for JRF through online mode (subject based telegram and whattsapp groups). The presentation of Entomology emphasized the JRF application process, care to be taken during application process, role of Question banks, Glossary and terminology apart from dos and don’ts before JRF examination day and in the examination hall. The Soil Science presentation highlighted the importance of YouTube channels for specific topics apart from prestigious Agricultural colleges/campuses all over India. The Social Sciences presentation covered topics under Extension and Economics and reference text books apart from the opportunities for Social Science experts at national and international level in public and private sectors at national and international level. The presentations were followed by an interaction session wherein the students clarified their doubts JRF preparation.
