A training programme on “Plant protection measures to be followed in different crops and branding of Telangana Sona rice variety” was organized by ATMA, Siddipet, ARS, Tornala in collaboration with Gramodaya Chamber of Commerce and Technology at Gram Panchayath building of Ibrahimpur, Siddipet rural mandal, Siddipet district on 07-10-2020. Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Sr. Scientist (Agro) & Head, Dr. E. Umarani, Scientist (Pl. Br.) from ARS, Tornala, Mr. Kameswar Raju from GCOT, Officials from Deccan Mudra a startup company, Mr. T. Nagarjuna, AEO, Ibrahimpur village, Mr. Bhavani Prasad, BTM, ATMA, Siddipet, Mr. K. Nagesh Reddy, President of Rythu Samanvaya Samithi (RSS) and 20 farmers from the village have participated in the programme. At the outset, Mr. T. Nagarjuna AEO, Ibrahimpur village, has welcomed all and gave a brief note on area coverage of different crops, stage of crops and incidence of pest and diseases. Later, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu explained about integrated pest and disease management practices to be followed in paddy and cotton. Dr. E. Umarani, Scientist (Pl. Br.) discussed about paddy seed (Bathukamma variety) availability for yasangi, 2020-21 at ARS, Tornala and also encouraged the farmers to takeup seed production under the guidance of ARS, Tornala scientists. Subsequently Mr. Kameswar Raju has explained saying that G-COT is going to facilitate procurement of entire seed of RNR-15048 going to be produced from 108 acres in Ibrahimpur village @ Rs. 2200/- per quintal, either directly or through SHG. Further, G-COT and Deccan Mudra a startup company will coordinate for milling, branding and sale according to Mr. Harsha from Deccan Mudra. Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu interacted with the farmers saying that this method of procurement will save transport cost and fetch higher net returns for paddy growers of the village as seed is going to be procured at higher price by Rs. 400/- per quintal over exisisting MSP.
