A programme on planting of saplings was held at Agri biodiversity park, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar on 16.02.2023. Dr. S. Sudheer Kumar, Registrar, PJTSAU, Dr. Seema, Dean, PJTSAU, Dr. R. Jagadeeshwar, Director of Research, Dr. V. Sudha Rani, Director of Extension, Dr. V. Anitha, Dean (PG Studies) and Dr. J. Satyanarayana, DSA, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar Mr. Mani Shyam Sunder M, Site Director and Ms. B. Latha, Project Manager, Dell Technologies, Hyderabad have graced the occasion Dr. A. V. Ramanjaneyulu, Principal Scientist (Agro.) & Head and Dr. T. Chaitanya, Scientist (Soil Science), AICRP on Agroforestry PJTSAU, Rajendranagar Ms. Zohra Sailan, Volunteer Manager and Mr. Mohammed Ilyas, Senior Consultant, Learning Links Foundation and voluntaries of DELL Technologies Pvt. Ltd. also participated in the plantation programme. Nearly 4000 no. of saplings of different tree species, shrubs, commercial woody species and ornamental plants were supplied by DELL Technologies Pvt. Ltd., and Learning Links Foundation, Hyderabad. Nearly 25 saplings of different palm species were planted on the hands of dignitaries. Dr. S. Sudheer Kumar emphasized on the need and steps taken by the PJTSAU for biodiversity conservation in Agri biodiversity park, Rajendranagar. Dr. R. Jagadeeshwar informed the gathering about efforts being made by AICRP on Agroforestry and ANP on Vertebrate Pest Management for conservation and documentation of flora and fauna in the Agri biodiversity park. All the other University officers appreciated the efforts of DELL Technologies Pvt. Ltd., and Learning Links Foundation, Hyderabad for financial support for supply of saplings, planting and maintenance. Mr. Mani Shyam Sunder M and Ms. B. Latha informed that their organization is aiming at planting of 1.0 million trees of which 60% target is achieved so far and also thanked the University authorities for gracing the occasion. Dr. A. V. Ramanjaneyulu has appraised of the dignitaries on on-going activities in Agri biodiversity park with the support of Revolving Fund sanctioned by PJTSAU. Dr. V. Vasudeva Rao, Sr. Professor (Retired) emphasized on the need for documentation of the changes in biodiversity over the time. Dr. T. Chaitanya informed the gathering about various palm species (Bismark palm, Red sealing wax palm and Carandy palm etc.,) to be planted in Agri biodiversity park and finally presented vote of thanks for all dignitaries and other participants.
