Orientation Programme on Direct Seeded Rice (Promotion of Direct Seeded Rice for Sustainable Rice Production) A CSR Initiative of SBI Foundation KVK, Kampasagar on 24-08-2024

During the Orientation Programme on Direct Seeded Rice, several scientists participated, including Dr. Shaik N Meera, Director, ATARI Zone-X, ICAR-CRIDA; Dr. Swarnalatha Devi, ADE, PJTSAU; Dr. R.M. Kumar, Principal Scientist and Principal Investigator of the project, IIRR, Hyderabad; Dr. M. Malla Reddy, Associate Director of Research, RARS Palem; Dr.S.Srinivasa Rao Programme Coordinator KVK Kampasagar, Dr. N. Lingaiah, ARS Head; Dr. K. Chandrashekar, SMS (Crop Production); Smt. A. Ramulamma, SMS (Plant Protection); Smt. S. Pallavi, SMS (Extension); Scients of IIRR, Rajendranagar as well as KVK staff, Representatives of NGO’s viz., Pranadhaara, Krishivaas, Cultyvate and farmers from Nalgonda District. The programme began with the scientists interacting with farmers and visiting demonstration plots at the KVK instructional farm. Following this, the scientists provided an overview of direct seeded rice cultivation and its benefits. They emphasized effective management practices for weed control and recommended herbicides that can efficiently manage weeds in direct seeded rice systems. After meeting method demonstration on direct seeded rice methods viz., broad casting, manual drum seeding and tractor mounted drum seeding was demonstrated at KVK instructional farm.
