Best Management Practices in Sunflower under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) at Narsapur Village on 03-12-2020

A training programme on “Best management practices in Sunflower” under scheduled caste subplan (SCSP)” was organized at Narsapur village, Siddipet Urban mandal, Siddipet districtby Mrs. D. Swetha,Scientist (Agro) and Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Sr. Scientist (Agro). on 03-12-2020. Dr. R. Srinivas Rao, Scientist (Crop Production), DAATTC, Tornala, Sri. B. Narasimhulu, Counsellor, Sri K. Yellaiah and Sri. A. Raji Reddy, Director Co-operative society, Sri R. Parasuramulu, President of Rythu Samanvaya Samiti and 86 farmers from the village have participated in the programme. At the outset, Mrs. D. Swetha, Scientist (Agro.) has welcomed all, apprised of the objectives of the SCSP and agronomic practices to be followed for better yields in sunflower crop. Dr. R.Srinviasa Rao, Scientist (Crop Production) explained objectives and activities of DAATTC center. He also discussed about ill effects of indiscriminate use of fertilizers, advantages of crop rotation, integrated nutrient management, seed production and IPM practices to be followed in sunflower crop. Later, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu gave an overview of research, seed production and extension activities of ARS, Tornala besides ways and means of controlling the birds and wild boars in sunflower crop, importance of zero tillage in sunflower, need for insitu incorporation of sunflower stubbles after its harvest, growing of sesamum crop (summer) after rabi sunflower resulting higher net income to the farmers. Sri. B. Narasimhulu garu has requested the farmers to follow the suggestions of scientists with regard to soil test based fertilizer application and crop rotation. At the end, Battery operated knapsack sprayers were distributed to 37 SC beneficiary farmers under SCSP funded under AICRP on Sunflower by ICAR-IIOR, Hyderabad for the year 2019-20.
