Late Prof. KothapalliJayashankar Sir’s 88th birth anniversary is celebrated at Agricultural College, Sircilla on 06 August, 2021. Mr. T. Arunbabu, OISA started the programme by briefing the services and major role played by Prof. Jayashankar Sir in the movement of Telangana State Formation. The Associate Dean Dr. T. UmaMaheswari madam said that Prof. Jayashankar sir was renouned Indian academic and social activist who fought for separate Telangana state since 1952. The root cause for the separate Telangana state was been unequal distribution of water among Andhra, Telangana and Rayalaseema regions. He struggled throughout his life for educating Telangana people on the necessity of separate state through his academic and research efforts. From 1962 he played an important role and led many agitations for reorganization of the state. He died on 21 June 2011 and Government of Telangana honoured him by changing the name of ANGRAU to Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU). The AD said that all staff members have to be proud and remember the Prof. Jayashankar sir’s sacrifices for the formation of Telangana state and work together for the society and development of Telangana. Later Prof & Head Dr. K. P. Vani madam said that the policies recommended by Prof. Jayashankar Sir and implemented by the present sate Govt. of Telangana resulted a steep rise in food production and improved the economic status of the Telangana farming community. In this event, Associate Dean, teaching and non-teaching staff are participated and paid floral tributes to Prof. Jayashankar Sir.
