Field visit to minikits, Kitchen gardens at Adopted village, Veldurthi on 25.06.2022 by RARS, Polasa, Jagtial scientist

  • Regional Agricultural Research Station, Polasa, Jagtial has conducted field visit at adopted village, Veldurthi on 25.06.2022.
  • The Paddy minikits JGL 33124 and JGL 27356 and were distributed to the farmers Sri. Laxmirajam and Sri. Gangadhar on 18.06.2022 and 20.06.2022. Among the two minikits JGL 33124 nursery was sown on 23.06.2022 and the Minikit JGL 27356 seeds were soaked and nursery was prepared.
  • Later, visited the kitchen garden of Smt. Suguna with vegetables i.e. brinjal, bhendi etc. and interacted about the income generation through kitchen gardens.
  • Similarly, visited the vegetable fields of Smt. S. Jamuna and Smt.K. Jamuna. The women farmer Sri. S. Jamuna is raising vegetables i.e. Brinjal, Bhendi, Palak etc and sells the vegetables directly in the market to meet her family requirement and for earning additional income. She also expressed that management of pests and wild boars are the major constraints she is facing in the cultivation of vegetables.
  • As most of the farmers in the village are cultivating green manure crops before paddy cultivation, the green manure crop i.e. Dhainacha, cultivated by Smt.K. Jamuna was visited and explained about the importance of the green manure crops in increasing the soil fertility.
  •  Visited the sowings in turmeric and advised the farmers to go for raised bed method of sowing in turmeric for prevention of diseases i.e. rhizome rot etc, for reduced cost of cultivation and increased returns.
  • In this field visit Scientists Smt.P. Sadvi, Dr.D.A. Rajini Devi, Ms. Lavanya, Intern student of Ag.hub, PJTSAU and farmers, Smt. Suguna, Sri. Gangadhar, Smt.K. Jamuna and Smt. S. Jamuna and other farmers have participated.
