RARS, Palem- AICRP on Castor- Field Day Report on 22.02.2023

AICRP – Castor scheme at RARS, Palem has organised a field day on rabi castor cultivation under Tribal Sub Plan scheme. The programme was organised in collaboration with ICAR – IIOR, Rajendranagar. The programme was conducted in Sri.G.Haarya’s castor field at Ralla Cheruvu Thanda of Thimajipet Mandal on 22.02.2023. The farmer has taken uup rabi castor in 3 acres of land and followed all recommende package of practice. He is expected to get on average yield of 10 quintals per acre.In this programme, Dr.R.K.Mathur, Director, ICAR-IIOR, Rajendranagar addressed the farmers on importance of oilseeds crop cultivation and encouraged farmers to go for value addition of harvested produce. Dr. Suresh, Principal Scientist, IIOR and Dr.R.D.Prasad, Principal Scientist, ICAR - IIOR has participated in the meeting and gave valuable advice on oilseed crop cultivation to the farmers. The meeting was also attended by Dr.M.Sujatha, Dr.S.Vanisree, PS (Oilseeds) and Scientists Dr.N.Nalini, Dr.K.Sadaiah, Dr.G.Eswara Reddy, Mrs.G.Madhuri and Dr.V.Divya Rani of RARS, Palem. District Agriculture Officer, Nagarkurnool, ADA, AO & AEO’s also attended the meeting and suggested importance of crop diversification and encourged farmers to take up oilseeds crops. A total of 100 farmers have attended the meeting and interacted with Director & other scientists & DAO and recceived valuable suggestions from the experts.
